Frequently Asked Questions
-
Fire Pit Pans
-
What size should my cutout be for the drop-in pan?
We add one inch to length and width or diameter so that the pan has room for expansion/contraction due to temperature change.
-
What’s the difference between linear and rectangular?
Linear – Single Burner. Rectangular – H-Style Burner.
-
How wide is the flange?
The flange is 1.25” all the way around. You can add 2.5” to the length, width, or diameter to get the outside flange to outside flame dimension.
-
What is a fire pit pan and what does it do?
A fire pit pan is a stainless steel tray that holds the burner and supports your fire media (like fire glass or lava rock). It also helps with gas flow, drainage, and prevents heat damage to your fire feature structure. It also reduces the amount of media required to fill the enclosure by creating a false bottom.
-
What are fire pit pans made of?
Our pans are made from 304 stainless steel, which is rust-resistant, weatherproof, and built to withstand extreme heat. Perfect for long-term outdoor use.
-
Do pans help with drainage?
Yes! All our fire pit pans include built-in weep holes or drain holes to prevent water buildup. Just make sure your enclosure also has proper drainage underneath.
-
Will my fire media fall through the pan holes?
Nope. Our pans are designed with small holes for drainage but are still tight enough to support lava rock & fire glass without slipping through.
-
H-Burners
-
How large of a burner can I use?
Firepit: At least 3” from the inside walls of your fire feature. Fireplace: You want the H-Burner to fit in the middle of your fire box, at least 3” from edges/walls and reference any local codes for additional requirements. Most commonly the H-Burner should be narrower than the back wall of the fireplace.
-
Can I use this indoors?
For use in outdoor fire pits or fully vented natural gas fireplaces that have a chimney and flue.
-
What size H-Burner do I need?
When sizing a burner, you will need to allow a minimum of 3" of space from the edges of the burner to the inside of the enclosure. This helps ensure that the flames don't damage the top of the enclosure.
-
What is an H-burner?
An H-burner is a burner shaped like the letter “H,” designed to create a wide, even flame pattern. It’s commonly used in rectangular or linear fire pits and fireplaces.
-
Why would I choose an H-burner instead of a round ring?
H-burners are perfect for long or rectangular fire features. They spread the flame more evenly across a straight line, giving a modern, symmetrical flame look that many people love.
-
Are H-burners safe for outdoor use?
Absolutely. Our H-burners are made from high-quality stainless steel, which resists rust and handles high temperatures in outdoor conditions.
-
What sizes do H-burners come in?
We offer a variety of sizes to match different fire pit and fireplace dimensions. Choose one that leaves at least 3–4 inches of clearance on all sides inside your fire feature.
-
Flame Guards
-
Why do I see two different dimensions for the flame guard?
The assembled dimensions are larger than the pan so that the flame guard rests on the tabletop and sits away from the flames.
-
What size flame guard do I need?
You can look up our Flame Guard size chart here to determine the best size for your fire pit. We recommend having at least a 2.5” clearance on each side of the burner area of your fire pit, and that your flame guard be placed on the outside of your fire pit for optimal performance.
-
Do you make custom flame guards?
Yes! We can make you a custom flame guard. To get a quote for yours, please email [email protected] or call 888-264-1017 and one of our representatives will gladly assist you.
-
What is a flame guard and what does it do?
A flame guard (also called a wind guard) is a clear glass barrier that surrounds your fire pit burner. It helps block wind, stabilize the flame, and protect surrounding surfaces and people from direct heat.
-
Do I really need a flame guard for my fire pit?
If your fire pit is in a windy or open area, yes. A flame guard keeps your flame steady, improves fuel efficiency, and protects the flame from being blown out. It is especially important for electronic ignition systems.
-
Will a flame guard block the heat?
Not at all. Flame guards are made of tempered glass, which allows heat and light to pass through while shielding the flame from wind.
-
Are flame guards safe to use?
Yes. Our flame guards are made from high-strength tempered glass that’s heat-resistant, shatter-resistant, and designed for high-temperature environments.
-
Can I use a flame guard with any fire pit?
Flame guards work with most fire pits, especially rectangular, square, or round fire tables. Just make sure you choose the right size and shape to fit around your burner area.
-
How do I choose the right size flame guard?
Measure the burner area, not the whole fire pit. Your flame guard should be about 2–3 inches larger than the burner on all sides for proper protection and ventilation.
-
Will a flame guard block my view of the fire?
Not at all! The clear glass gives you a full view of the flame while adding a sleek, modern look to your fire feature.
-
How do I clean a flame guard?
Simply wipe it down with a soft cloth and ammonia free glass cleaner. Make sure the glass is cool before cleaning to avoid streaking or cracking.
-
Can I leave my flame guard on year-round?
Yes. It’s designed for outdoor use and can stay on in all seasons. For extreme weather or long periods of non-use, you can store it indoors to keep it looking brand new.
-
Burner Covers
-
Does the lid fit over or inside of the flame guard?
Burner covers sit outside of the drop-in pans and inside of the flame guard.
-
What is a burner cover, and why do I need one?
A burner cover is a protective lid that goes over your fire pit burner when it’s not in use. It helps keep out rain, leaves, debris, and critters. So your fire pit stays clean and ready to use.
-
Can I leave my fire pit uncovered?
You can, but it’s not recommended. Exposure to the elements can lead to rust, clogged burners, and reduced performance over time. A cover helps extend the life of your investment.
-
Are burner covers heat resistant?
Our burner covers are made to withstand high outdoor temperatures, but they should only be placed on the fire pit after the flame has been turned off and the components have cooled down.
-
Do covers come in different shapes and sizes?
Absolutely. We offer round, square, and rectangular covers to fit our different burner styles and pan sizes.
-
Do I need a burner cover if I already have a fabric fire pit cover?
Yes. While fabric covers protect the whole unit, a burner cover specifically protects the burner components from moisture getting in underneath. They work great together.
-
Clearance
-

Our clearance fire glass inventory includes discontinued colors, overstock inventory, packaging updates, and closeout items offered at reduced pricing while supplies last. These products are still high-quality fire glass products designed for long-term use in propane and natural gas fire features.
-
Is clearance fire glass safe to use?
Yes. Clearance fire glass is completely safe for use in properly installed propane and natural gas fire pits and fireplaces. These products meet the same quality standards as our regular inventory.

Will discontinued fire glass colors come back?
In many cases, discontinued fire glass colors will not return once sold out. Because clearance inventory is limited, we recommend purchasing early if you find a color or style you love.
-
Can I mix different fire glass colors together?
Absolutely. Many customers create custom fire glass blends by mixing multiple colors, finishes, or styles together to create a unique look for their fire pit or fireplace.
-
Does clearance fire glass work with propane and natural gas fire pits?
Yes. Our clearance fire glass is designed for use with both propane and natural gas fire features, including fire pits, fireplaces, fire bowls, and other outdoor fire applications.

How much fire glass do I need for my fire pit?
The amount of fire glass needed depends on the size and depth of your fire pit or fireplace. We recommend using our Fire Glass Calculator to help determine the correct amount for your project.

Many clearance items qualify for free shipping depending on the order total and product type. Certain oversized or specialty products may not qualify. Please review our shipping policy for complete details.
